Dave’s very brief profile

Hello, Here I am looking particularly happy on the top of Mullach Mor on Holy Isle just off the Isle of Arran in May 2023. I was there as part of a Inter-Being mindfulness retreat at the Tibetan Buddhist retreat centre. In essence mindfulness is about knowing you are living in the present moment by simply knowing you are breathing in and then knowing you are breathing out. You might be sitting , walking or doing the washing up. You are not worrying about the past or anxious about the future because you have somehow managed to slow down and perhaps for a brief moment you are in the Now, you are liberated from the narrative of your own chattering monkey brain. But the present moment is a slippery fish and you will have your whole life behind and ahead of you to keep returning to the present moment.

I now realise at the age of 51 that there is more to life than working full-tilt and being super busy all the time, purely as a function of social convention. “Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their life a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”- Oscar Wilde, De Profundis

“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society” - J.Krishnamurti.

I work qualitatively not on on a production line basis. I spend time to get to know my patients and build trust. I cannot help everyone and I take pride in vetting personally everyone who rings to see if I can take on their case or refer out as appropriate. I do not know if I can help a person unless they are first willing to help themselves. It is team work.
