In 2017 the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) carried out an evidence review on the use of multi-modal approaches used in Chiropractic. Based on all evidence submitted and reviewed to date, the ASA and CAP (Committees of Advertising Practice) accept that chiropractors may claim to treat only certain conditions.

How can a Chiropractor help me?

In the interests of transparency, I outline below the established conditions you might consult a chiropractor for:

  • General, acute & chronic backache

  • Sciatica (establishing the primary cause is of clinical importance)

  • Mechanical neck pain

  • Headache arising from the neck (known as Cervicogenic headaches)

  • Migraine prevention

  • Soft tissue disorders of the shoulder

  • Shoulder complaints such as Rotator Cuff disorders

  • Elbow pain such as tennis elbow (arising from associated musculoskeletal conditions of the back and neck)

  • Generalised aches & pains

  • Minor sports injuries

  • Tension and inability to relax

  • Cramp & joint pains

  • Joint pains including hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis (OA) as an adjunct to core OA treatments and exercise

  • Muscle spasms (mild to moderate)
